PUMA GUERRERO

Dancer / Choreographer / Teaching Artist
&
Arts Administrator

Home: Welcome

Puma Guerrero a dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist who explores themes of ethnic, cultural, and queer identity-and-community through the medium of flamenco, drawing upon their lived experience as a queer Xicanx. They are also a devoted arts administrator of multiple years, with a particular focus on NYC's flamenco and percussive dance community.

Puma is a graduate of Dance at Oberlin College, where they trained in multiple dance modalities. They focused most heavily on studying flamenco dance and history as well as dance writing. In conjunction with their academic pursuits, they were a choreographer and dancer for Choreo and Movimiento, groups which performed hip-hop and Latin social dancing respectively. Puma carries the shared missions these groups held in all the dance they do: fostering encouraging, welcoming dance environments while bringing to light the historical, cultural, and political significance of the dance forms they practice.
